The Third Geriatric Nephrology Academic Conference of Chinese Geriatric Medical Association Held in Beijing
On September 22, 2024, the 3rd Academic Conference on Geriatric Nephrology of the Chinese Geriatric Society, sponsored by the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, was grandly opened in Beijing.
Fan Li, President of the Chinese Geriatric Society, attended and delivered a speech, she said, "With the acceleration of aging in China, the incidence of elderly kidney diseases has risen rapidly, and complexity and occult nature have also brought major challenges to diagnosis and treatment. Since its establishment, the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, under the leadership of President Chen Limeng, has always adhered to the correct development direction of academic organization, actively promoted the academic development and talent training of geriatric nephrology, and made positive contributions to the development of geriatric nephrology in China. This conference is one of the important work of the society this year, and I hope that the Branch of Nephrology will continue to focus on elderly kidney diseases, give full play to its professional advantages, improve the overall level of the construction of elderly nephrology in China, and make more contributions to promoting the development of elderly nephrology in China."
Chen Limeng, President of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, delivered a welcome speech, "In the past year, the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, under the leadership of the Chinese Geriatric Society, all members of the branch actively worked in various aspects of organizational construction, academic conferences and exchanges, continuing education, popular science publicity, and public welfare activities. We warmly welcome the whole country in the field of geriatric kidney disease to work together, integrate the original intention of helping the world, the academic ideal of exploring science, and the courage to practice into the purpose of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, and make unremitting efforts to comprehensively improve the diagnosis and treatment level of geriatric kidney disease patients in China."
Du Bin, Vice president of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the organizer of the conference, and Professor Li Xuemei, consultant of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, jointly expressing their deep expectations for the meeting.
After the opening ceremony of the conference, there was a wonderful academic report, which carried out in-depth academic thought collision and experience exchange on a number of topics such as basic research progress of elderly kidney disease, clinical practice of elderly kidney disease, safety of multi-drug use for elderly kidney disease patients, interpretation of the latest guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease. As well as young and middle-aged experts from the clinical front line participated in the conference, bringing an academic feast to the participants and creating a high-level academic exchange platform. The conference also set up a young researcher forum for the purpose of improving the research ability of young doctors, and carried out paper speeches and poster exchanges. At the same time, an expert discussion was held on the preparation of the standard of elderly kidney disease group.
At the same time, the general Committee was held, chaired by Professor Chen Xiaonong, vice president of the branch. Zhang Xuehan, secretary of the branch, made a detailed work report, comprehensively reviewed the work achievements of the branch from 2023 to 2024, and introduced the preparatory work of the annual meeting. Subsequently, the vice presidents, Standing Committee members and members of the committee held in-depth and heated discussions to jointly explore the development direction of the branch and suggestions for the next step of work. Nineteen additional members have joined the Nephrology Branch family. At the end of the committee, President Chen Limeng made a concluding speech, clarifying the focus of the future work of the branch, and looking forward to the addition of new members to add vitality and creativity.
The successful holding of this meeting not only enhanced the communication and cooperation between the elderly nephrology colleagues, but also helped to improve the homogenization of the diagnosis and treatment level of elderly kidney diseases in China, and promoted the integration and cooperation of geriatric medicine and nephrology in China. Looking forward to the future, the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society will continue to uphold the purpose of "developing geriatric medicine and serving the health of the elderly", strengthen exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign counterparts, promote continuous innovation and development in the field of geriatric nephrology, and contribute wisdom and strength to healthy aging.
