The Psychiatry and Mental Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society held the kick-off meeting of the "Psychiatric Memory Clinic Network and Standardization Construction Project"
From August 28 to 29, 2021, the launching meeting of the Psychiatric Memory Clinic Network and Standardization Construction Project (hereinafter referred to as the "Memory Clinic Construction Project";) sponsored by the Psychiatry and Mental Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society was held online. More than 150 people, including leaders of the first 70 memory clinic construction units, clinical and scientific research personnel, participated in the launch meeting.
At the launch meeting, Professor Yu Xin, President of the Branch of Psychiatry and Mental Health and director of the Memory Disorder Diagnosis and Treatment and Research Center of Peking University Sixth Hospital, Professor Ning Yuping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Brain Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University, and Professor Xiao Shifu, director of the Alzheimer's Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, made enthusiastic speeches respectively. Professor Yu Xin pointed out that with the increasingly severe aging situation in society, the early prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related cognitive disorders has become an important issue of elderly health, and strengthening the construction of memory clinics will help more patients get timely diagnosis and treatment and narrow the gap in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related cognitive disorders, which has very important social significance. Professor Ning Yuping stressed that in the early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related cognitive disorders, geriatric psychiatric colleagues should make due contributions, especially to promote the application of biomarkers in early diagnosis. Professor Xiao Shifu believes that the national geriatric psychiatric departments work together, go hand in hand, and gradually standardize the diagnosis and treatment process, which will help the development of the discipline. Ms. Shao Min, senior vice president of Jiangsu Enhua Pharmaceutical Co., LTD., who is a representative of the caring enterprise supporting the memory clinic construction project, also made a wonderful speech. After the launch ceremony, Professor Yu Xin, Professor Xiao Shifu, Professor Wang Huali and Professor Tan Yan respectively made reports on the Development Needs and Response of mental health in the Elderly, Drug treatment and progress of Alzheimer's Disease, Introduction of memory Clinic construction and Deployment and Center in Specialized Hospitals, Early Diagnosis and Differential Diagnosis of cognitive disorders in the Elderly, etc. It points out the development direction for the construction of memory clinic.
In the professional basic theory and clinical skills training, Li Tao, deputy director of the Geriatric Department of Peking University Sixth Hospital, Professor Wang Tao, Deputy director of the Geriatric Department of the Mental Health Center Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, and Professor Zhong Xiaomei, deputy director of the geriatric Department of the Brain Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University, respectively discussed the "Setting and working process of memory clinic", "Differential diagnosis of dementia and depression and delirium", "Clinical treatment of dementia accompanied by mental behavior symptoms Through role-playing, simulation exercises and group discussions, we communicate, discuss and share with the students, so that the students have a deeper understanding of the clinical standard diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders.
In addition, Professor Wang Huali and Professor Li Tao of Peking University Sixth Hospital also trained the contents of "Multidimensional assessment of patients with cognitive Impairment" and "Assessment of mental and Behavioral Symptoms" for everyone, guiding practical practice, and answering difficulties in the use of relevant assessment tools, so that students can be more proficient in the assessment tools and provide technical support for memory outpatient work.
The launch of the "Psychiatric Memory Clinic network and standardization construction project"; is an important exploration and practice of the Chinese Geriatric Society and the Branch of Psychiatry and Mental Health in promoting the national mental health of the elderly, and reflects the leading role of the Chinese Geriatric Society in the field of geriatric psychiatry. While presenting an academic feast, the project will promote the exchange and cooperation between experts and scholars in related fields, and greatly improve the comprehensive ability of each construction unit in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia and related cognitive disorders. This activity is not only the mobilization of the upcoming World Alzheimer's Disease Month publicity activities, but also the reserve of professional talents for the national mental and mental health action for the elderly, injecting new strength.
