To celebrate the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China, improve the prevention and management level of elderly vascular diseases among medical workers in the old revolutionary base areas, so that more elderly patients with vascular diseases, especially VTE patients, can obtain early prevention, timely diagnosis and treatment, and continuous management, and improve the quality of life of the elderly population. The "5th National Vascular Health Management Summit Forum for the Elderly and VTE Prevention and Control Wisdom Cloud Series Lecture" jointly sponsored by the Peripheral Vascular Disease Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Shenzhen Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially launched on April 24, 2021, and the first stop of the lecture tour was Jiaxing Nanhu Station.

The tour began after watching the documentary "Spirit of the Red Boat". The chairman of the conference, Professor Zhao Jichun, president of the Peripheral Vascular Disease Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, pointed out in his speech that as a medical worker, we should carry forward the "Red boat spirit", keep in mind the original mission of doctors, hold high the great ideological banner of the "Red boat spirit", and constantly draw spiritual nutrients from it. As the responsibility of the Peripheral Vascular Disease Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, to be the faithful guardian, firm inheritor and conscious practitioner of the "Red Boat Spirit".

The tour is hosted by Renji Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, Jiaxing First Hospital and Jiaxing Second Hospital. In the form of a combination of online and offline, well-known experts from all over the country were invited to conduct academic exchanges with local counterparts. The opening ceremony and launching ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Wang Tao. Experts from all over the country have conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the prevention and control, diagnosis and treatment, management and other aspects of VTE, especially the health management of vascular diseases in the elderly, from a multi-angle, all-round and new model.

At the meeting, Professor Zhao Jichun shared the topic "Risk factors of VTE in the elderly and challenges in prevention and control"; Professor Xu Liu talked about "VTE prevention and Control and treatment Progress"; Prof. Zhang Hongkun shared "Thrombolysis and Anticoagulation Management in VTE Patients: Guideline Recommendations and Research Progress"; Prof. Wang Tao introduced "New Progress in Diagnosis and Treatment of pulmonary embolism"; Professor Chai Dongzhe shared "Application of Angiojet in inferior vena cava thrombosis". The experts made extensive and in-depth explanations, exchanges and discussions on the high risk factors and risks of VTE, the new progress in prevention and treatment, anticoagulation and thrombolysis management, mechanical aspiration, the establishment of hospital prevention and control system, and the positioning of vascular surgeons in prevention and treatment, which has strong theoretical and practical guiding significance. We all agreed that more education is needed for the prevention of VTE, and there is still a lot of work to be done in prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment.
