To actively respond to the challenges of population aging and accelerate the cultivation of a professional and standardized geriatric medical service talent team, the Chinese Geriatrics Society, in collaboration with the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army), jointly held the "Special Training Course for Elderly Capacity Assessors" (the fourth session) in Beijing from April 9th to 11th. Fan Li, president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, Zhang Qiujian, honorary director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, Cao Feng, director of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (PLA General Hospital) and vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, Chen Zheng, Xu Xiaodong, and Hou Huiru, vice presidents of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, and other leaders and experts attended and gave lectures. This training aims to implement the national strategic deployment on the construction of the elderly care service talent team, promote the scientific and standardized development of the elderly capacity assessment work, and contribute to the in-depth implementation of the "Healthy China" initiative.

Focus on demand: Cultivate professional talents to solve the problem of elderly care

With the acceleration of the aging process in our country, the multi-level and diversified health service demands of the elderly are increasing day by day. Professional ability assessment has become a key link in the precise provision of elderly care services. This three-day training course is guided by the "National Vocational Skill Standard for Elderly Capacity Assessors", systematically setting up theoretical and practical courses. It has attracted over a hundred participants from medical institutions, elderly care institutions, and community service centers across the country, covering diverse groups such as medical staff, elderly care managers, and workers in the veteran affairs system. It fully embodies the characteristics of "military-civilian collaboration and integration of medical care and elderly care".

Authority Empowerment: Multi-dimensional courses enhance service capabilities

The training specially invites a team of authoritative experts in the field of geriatrics in China to give lectures. The content combines policy height with practical depth. At the theoretical level, policy interpretation is carried out around the national standard "Assessment Specifications for the Capabilities of the Elderly", and a comprehensive assessment system for the physical function, cognitive ability, social participation and environmental adaptation of the elderly is analyzed. At the practical level, through scenario simulation, case study and operation of the smart health and wellness platform, the focus is on training the standardization of assessment processes, the precision of grade evaluation and the application ability of smart tools. Experts from the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army) also shared the military-civilian integration model for the assessment of special groups based on their practical experience in providing elderly care services for retired military cadres.

Innovation-driven: Smart health care leads the industry upgrade

In response to the trend of digital transformation, the training course has specially set up a module on "Professional Capacity Building for Smart Health and Wellness", demonstrating the innovative application of information collection and management. The trainees carried out practical exercises on the national clinical research platform for geriatric diseases, mastering cutting-edge skills such as dynamic data collection and intelligence status checks, laying the foundation for the future construction of a closed-loop service system of "assessment - intervention - tracking".

This special training, through an innovative model of theoretical foundation, technological empowerment, and military-civilian collaboration, has injected new impetus into the high-quality development of China's elderly care services and promoted a substantive leap in elderly health services towards "standard leadership".
