On March 30th, a warm and caring free outpatient consultation event was held with great enthusiasm at the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command. This event was meticulously planned and organized by Professor Huang Daifa, the vice president of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control and Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society. It aims to provide professional and considerate health services to the elderly, popularize knowledge on chronic disease prevention and control, and effectively enhance the health level of the elderly.
On the day of the free medical consultation, although the weather was slightly cool, the outpatient hall was warm and cozy. Early in the morning, the elderly who came for medical treatment were guided by the medical staff to register and queue up in an orderly manner. This free medical consultation organized multiple departments closely related to the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in the elderly, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, endocrinology, and neurology, and gathered many well-known experts in the industry to "safeguard" the health of the elderly.
At the expert's free medical consultation table, Grandpa Wang, with a worried look on his face, confided to the doctor, "Recently, I've been feeling palpitations all the time. My chest feels tight and I can't sleep well at night." Professor Liang Chunbo, a member of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, gently comforted him while carefully examining his previous examination and laboratory reports, and inquired about his daily living habits and medication use. After a comprehensive consultation and analysis, Professor Liang formulated a personalized treatment plan for him and patiently reminded him, "Grandpa, you should pay more attention to rest in daily life, keep your diet light, take your medicine on time, and come for a follow-up visit at any time if you feel unwell." Grandpa Wang's furrowed brows gradually relaxed as he said gratefully, "Now there's a geriatric clinic. It's so convenient to see a doctor. One expert can answer so many professional questions. I feel much more at ease now!"
Meanwhile, in the chronic disease prevention and control knowledge popularization area, volunteers popularized the prevention and control knowledge of common chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases among the elderly by distributing promotional brochures and giving on-site explanations. They used vivid and illustrative cases and simple and understandable language to elaborate in detail on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, such as a balanced diet, moderate exercise, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol intake. The elderly friends who came for medical treatment listened very attentively and kept raising their own questions from time to time. The medical staff answered each question patiently based on their real-life experiences.
According to statistics, this free medical consultation event provided free health consultation services to over 150 elderly people and distributed 100 promotional materials. Not only does it help the elderly keep abreast of their health conditions in a timely manner, but it also enables them to acquire more knowledge about the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. Vice President Huang Daifa stated, "In the future, the branch will continue to collaborate with the hospital to carry out free medical consultation activities, further optimize the service process, expand the service scope, and bring high-quality medical resources to more elderly people, helping them enjoy a healthy and happy old age."
