Chen Zheng, vice president of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, emphasized the crucial role of nutritional health management in the health of the elderly. As people age, their physical functions gradually decline. Nutrition is of vital importance to them, not only for maintaining their physical functions but also for preventing chronic diseases and improving their quality of life. At the same time, Vice President Chen pointed out that the pilot project of implementing the "Community Elderly Nutrition Management Service Standards" in communities is an important measure to actively respond to the challenges of aging and improve the quality of life of the elderly. Yan Xiaozheng, director and secretary-general of the Healthy China Project Management Committee, also pointed out at the meeting that nutritional management plays a crucial role in restoring and maintaining the metabolic functions of the elderly. At present, metabolic chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension and hyperglycemia are relatively common among the elderly, and scientific and reasonable nutritional management can solve these problems from the root. By adjusting their diet structure and rationally combining nutrients, the elderly can improve their metabolic conditions and reduce the risk of diseases.

Therefore, he suggested attaching importance to and strengthening the nutrition management and services for the elderly in the community.

To further implement the integration of medical care and elderly care, the community Elderly nutrition Management Service Consortium was officially established at the meeting. Four hospitals, namely the Seventh Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, Puren Hospital, Hepingli Hospital and Chuiyangliu Hospital, held a pairing ceremony with 26 community elderly care stations in Dongcheng District.
