The Fourth Academic Meeting of the Chinese Geriatric Society's Ultrasound Medical Branch and the Academic Exchange Meeting Celebrating the 110th Anniversary of the Founding of the First Hospital of Peking University Successfully Held in Beijing
On September 7, 2024, it was hosted by the Chinese Geriatric Society Ultrasonic Medicine Branch and the National Geriatric Center, Peking University First Hospital and Beijing Hospital. Organized by the National Geriatric Center and co-organized by Scientific and Technical Literature Press Co., LTD., the fourth Academic meeting of the Ultrasonic Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society and the academic exchange meeting to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the establishment of Peking University First Hospital was held in Beijing Capital Hotel. Nearly 300 colleagues from all over the country participated in the meeting.
The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Professor Ren Junhong of Beijing Hospital, Vice President and Director General of the Chinese Geriatric Society Ultrasound Medicine Branch, and Professor Sun Xiuming of the First Hospital of Peking University, Standing Committee of the Chinese Geriatric Society Ultrasound Medicine Branch. Professor Jiang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the First Hospital of Peking University; Xu Xiaodong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and Party Secretary; Tang Jie, the first President of the Sonographer Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital; Professor He Wen, President of the Sonographer Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Affiliated Tiantan Hospital of Capital Medical University (Video speech); Mr. Guo Fajin, President of the Chinese Geriatric Society and Professor of Beijing Hospital, Mr. Fujimoto Liang, President and CEO of Canon Medical System (China) Co., LTD., and Mr. Chen Luzeng, President-elect of the Chinese Geriatric Society and Professor of Peking University First Hospital, addressed the meeting, affirming the work of the Ultrasound Branch. Luo Yukun, professor of the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, introduced the minimally invasive treatment strategy for cervical lymph node metastasis, pointing out that ultrasound is the preferred examination method for cervical lymph nodes, and accurate evaluation of lymph node properties is of great significance for tumor staging, treatment planning and disease prognosis. Ultrasound-guided thermal ablation can safely and effectively treat lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer.
Professor Luo Yukun
Professor Wang Hui from the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University introduced contrast-enhanced ultrasound and interventional therapy for renal tumors, pointing out that CEUS can improve the detection rate of small renal cancer, differentiate the benign and malignant subtypes of atypical intrarenal mass and renal cell carcinoma, and can be used for the diagnosis of renal tumors in patients with renal insufficiency and hypersensitivity to radiocontrast agent. CEUS also plays an important role in intraoperative guidance, immediate postoperative evaluation and long-term follow-up of tumor ablation therapy.
Professor Wang Hui
Zhang Wei, professor of Beijing Tiantan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, reported the application of new ultrasound technology in the identification of carotid plaque stability, and proposed that ischemic stroke is closely related to vulnerable carotid plaque, and SMI/CEUS can be widely used to evaluate the neovascularization and lumen conditions in plaques. SWE can be used to judge the hardness of blood vessel wall, but its stability and repeatability are poor. The quantitative analysis of carotid plaque with RVP raw data is still in the stage of clinical validation and needs further research. Hemodynamics is a research hotspot in recent years, which depends on better algorithms and computing power. Molecular imaging is in the basic research stage, but it has a broad prospect and a promising future.
Professor Zhang Wei
Professor Zhang Bo of China-Japan Friendship Hospital (Master Liu Xinyi) pointed out that the existing thyroid nodule risk stratification is not based on age stratification, and how to choose a more suitable ultrasound assessment method for elderly patients and help the elderly population make scientific decisions about treatment is a scientific problem to be solved urgently. FNA and CNB can be selected for thyroid puncture in elderly patients, and the scientific decision should be made according to the patient's condition, operator's proficiency and specific ultrasound manifestations. Clinical decisions in older patients need to be evaluated individually, taking into account the patient's overall health, life expectancy and quality of life.
Liu Xinyi Master
Professor Wang Yuexiang of the First Medical Center of PLA General Hospital reported the application status of new ultrasonic technology in shoulder joint diseases, and introduced the clinical characteristics, pathological changes and ultrasonic image characteristics of a variety of shoulder joint diseases in detail. The application of SWV and shoulder arthrography in shoulder joint disease was described.
Professor Wang Yuexiang
Professor He Nian 'an from the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China introduced in detail the etiology, epidemiology, pathological features, clinical features and ultrasonic examination and diagnosis methods of temporal arteritis, pointing out that ultrasound is easy to operate, non-invasive and non-radiative, and has good repeatability, and should be performed before the temporal artery biopsy in all patients suspected of GCA. In middle-aged and elderly patients ≥50 years old, unexplained fever, fatigue, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate > 50mm/h; Recent headache, visual impairment; Other signs of insufficient blood supply to the head, such as suspended mastication, tinnitus, vertigo, etc. The presence of TA should be considered in the presence of polymyalgia rheumatica syndrome.
Professor Ho Nian An
Prof. Rong Wu from the First People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine introduced the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the diagnosis of solid renal neoplasms and cystic lesions, and analyzed in detail the characteristics of CEUS in benign and malignant renal tumors, the application of CEUS in the differential diagnosis of various subtypes of renal cell carcinoma, and the Bosniak classification of CEUS in renal cystic lesions.
Professor Wu Rong
Professor Ren Jianli of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University opened with a vivid animation to demonstrate the application of TEE in the assessment and treatment of tricuspid regurgitation, which deepened everyone's understanding and was fascinating. In the follow-up, the application of TEE in perioperative TEER was introduced in detail, and the important value of TEE in timely evaluation of operative effect and reduction of postoperative complications was expounded.

It is believed that the smooth holding of this conference is conducive to promoting the innovation and development of the field of ultrasound medicine, and promote the close combination of geriatric medicine and ultrasound technology.
