Academic Meeting of Anesthesiology Branch of Chinese Geriatric Society Held in 2024
The 2024 Academic Meeting of Anesthesiology Branch of Chinese Geriatrics Society and the Academic Meeting of Patient Safety Committee of Hunan Hospital Association was successfully held in Changsha, Hunan Province from August 16-18, 2024. This academic conference was sponsored by the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society and co-sponsored by the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and the Patient Safety Committee of Hunan Hospital Association. With the theme of "Drunken Sunset, escorted by me", it aims to bring together anesthesiology experts, geriatric researchers, scholars in the field of patient safety, and front-line clinical workers from all over the country. To discuss the development direction of geriatric anesthesia and related fields and the new progress of patient safety management.

Prof. Sun Chuanzheng, Prof. Wang Guolin, President Chen Weihong and Prof. Chen Zheng delivered the opening speech respectively. Professor Chen Zheng and Professor Ma Daqing respectively delivered keynote speeches on the topics of "Construction of Geriatric Medical Service System" and "Anesthesia and Tumor Cell Biology". The opening ceremony was presided over by Director-General Xie Keliang. The keynote speech was presided over by Vice Chairmen Ouyang Wen and Wang Yuelan.
The conference lasted for three days, and invited well-known experts in the field of geriatric anesthesia and perioperative period to give academic lectures on hot issues in the perioperative period of the elderly, perioperative new drugs and new technologies, perioperative pain management, scientific research and academic innovation, anesthesia quality control, perioperative brain health, MDT and ERAS, and organ function protection in elderly patients. During the meeting, the "National Committee of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society", the book launch of "Geriatric Anesthesiology", the final meeting of 100 popular science books on geriatric anesthesia, the final meeting of the Expert Consensus on perioperative brain function monitoring of Chinese Elderly patients, and the collection and display of perioperative management cases of "Devising strategies to eliminate pain is a good strategy for Mulberry Elm" were also held. The participating experts conducted in-depth discussions on the basic research and clinical frontier progress of anesthesiology, and shared the latest research results and practical experience of their respective teams. In addition, we also had a warm exchange on the future development of the branch and looked forward to the prospect of the discipline together.

A total of 128 academic task experts were invited to this conference, including 60 speakers, all of whom are top scholars from the field of anesthesia and geriatrics in the country. The number of offline participants exceeded 500, and the participants spoke highly of the conference content and organization. This conference provides a platform for participants to learn and communicate with each other, enhance academic exchanges, broaden their horizons, and strengthen cooperation and contacts within the industry. These results will play a positive role in promoting the development of geriatric medicine in China and make important contributions to enhancing the influence of anesthesia.
