"Go to the Grassroots" Series of Activities of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society-Luzhou Station
The fifth stop of the series of activities of the Chinese Geriatric Society Anesthesiology Branch "Walking to the grassroots" was held in Luzhou, Sichuan Province in 2024. Luzhou City in Sichuan Province has a profound historical and cultural heritage, and is also the first stop of the Central Red Army into Sichuan and the main battlefield of the Red Army's four crossing Chishui Campaign. The Battle of Chishui lasted 54 days in Luzhou. The Red Army won the Battle of Erlang Beach and the Battle of Taiping in Gulin County, Luzhou.
The activity was led by Professor Wang Guolin, President of the Chinese Geriatric Society Anesthesiology Branch and General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, and Professor Min Su, Vice president of the Branch, the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Professor Yu Tian, Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University, and Professor Xie Keliang, Standing Committee member and Director General of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, participated in the activity.
On the morning of July 26, Professor Wang Guolin and Professor Xie Keliang came to the Department of Anesthesiology, Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University for investigation and exchange. Professor Zhou Jun and Professor Bai Yiping, Department of Anesthesiology, Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, made a detailed introduction to the hospital situation, department structure, anesthesia discipline construction, clinical anesthesia, and scientific research status. President Wang Guolin and Professor Xie Keliang had in-depth exchanges on personnel training, discipline construction and scientific research ideas. In the afternoon, Professor Wang Guolin, Professor Min Su and Professor Xie Keliang and other experts came to Luzhou Naxi District People's Hospital to conduct in-depth research and surgical guidance. Mr. Li Jiandong, president of Naxi District People's Hospital of Luzhou City, first expressed his heartfelt thanks to the experts and introduced in detail the history of the hospital's history, the composition of departments, clinical operations, equipment and facilities. Afterwards, the experts came to the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Intensive Care Medicine for investigation and discussion, and gave on-site guidance on the clinical anesthesia treatment of an 81-year-old patient. The experts expressed great recognition for the development of the department. The medical staff attending the meeting attached great importance to this exchange opportunity and actively asked questions. The experts gave detailed answers based on their own experience.
In the morning of July 27, the academic training session, 20 hospitals in Luzhou area, 200 students actively participated. At the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Xiaobin made a brief introduction to the development of anesthesia at all levels of medical institutions in Luzhou City, and expressed his warm welcome to the experts from all branches coming from afar. He also looked forward to the academic conference to enable local grassroots doctors to deeply learn the new technology and cutting-edge progress in the field of geriatric anesthesia. Professor Wan Juyi, executive vice president of the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, said that he was very grateful to the anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society for organizing the top experts to come to Luzhou area. The development of anesthesia is related to the development of hospitals and the people's sense of gain. I look forward to learning advanced experience in discipline concepts, theoretical knowledge and clinical technology during this academic exchange. Wang Bangfu, Secretary-General of Luzhou Medical Association, said that he would like to thank the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society for holding Luzhou as one of the "grassroots" series of activities, which will promote the development of local anesthesiology and further improve the level of clinical diagnosis and treatment services. President Wang Guolin introduced the general situation of the establishment of the Chinese Geriatric Society Anesthesiology Branch and the key points of work, and made a brief introduction to the first monograph of geriatric anesthesia in China, Geriatric Anesthesiology. He said that China has entered a deeply aging society, and the anesthesia management of elderly patients is also facing new opportunities and challenges. It is hoped that the grass-roots series of activities will fully carry forward the spirit of the Long March, and jointly help the geriatric anesthesia discipline through exchanges and cooperation with grass-roots hospitals, and seek well-being for the health of the people.
At the book gift ceremony, President Wang Guolin, Professor Yu Tian and Professor Min Su presented the latest "Geriatric Anesthesiology" published in April this year to representatives of local grassroots hospitals in Luzhou. President Wang Guolin said that as the first geriatric anesthesiology book in China, with a total of 1.5 million words, this book brings together the wisdom of anesthesia experts from all over the world, hoping to help cultivate the backbone of geriatric anesthesia and jointly promote the development and progress of the cause of geriatric anesthesia. Professor Wu Cheng of Hejiang County People's Hospital shared the gift speech on behalf of grassroots anesthesia, and thanked the Chinese Geriatric Society Anesthesiology Branch for organizing the grassroots activity, which gave grassroots hospitals the opportunity to deeply learn the cutting-edge progress of geriatric anesthesia, further escort elderly surgery patients, and allow elderly patients to enjoy safer and high-quality perioperative services.
Following the academic lecture session, under the auspices of Professors Wang Xiaobin, Zhou Jun, Wei Inheritance and Bai Yiping of Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, Prof. Wang Guolin, Prof. Min Su, Prof. Yu Tian and Prof. Xie Keliang respectively shared their stories on "Application of nociceptive monitoring in Clinical anesthesia", "New Quality Development of geriatric anesthesia Medicine", "Interpretation of Expert Consensus on Preoperative Anti-anxiety" and "Attention to Patients' Postoperative recovery".
On the afternoon of July 27, in order to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, inherit the revolutionary spirit, and further enhance the sense of responsibility and mission of the members of the branch, the team of grassroots experts carried out the party history study and education in the Lushun Uprising Memorial Hall. Lushun Uprising is a historical event that has left a strong mark in the history of Chinese revolution. In December 1926, in order to cooperate with the Northern Expedition War, the Lushun Uprising broke out, known as the "pioneer of the Nanchang Uprising", which effectively promoted the development of Sichuan and even China's revolutionary movement. Under the lecture of the teacher, the expert team felt the spirit of the revolutionary martyrs' heroic struggle and not afraid of sacrifice. Everyone said that as a Communist Party member in the new era, we should always inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition and revolutionary spirit left by the revolutionary predecessors, do not forget the original intention, keep in mind the mission, based on the position, perform their duties, strive to improve the overall level of professional disciplines, carry out a series of grassroots activities, and jointly promote the development of grassroots anesthesia and geriatrics.
