  In May 2022, the "Xinglin Encyclopedia Academic Forum - Shanghai Station"; co-sponsored by the Chinese Geriatric Society of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine Branch and the Shanghai Association of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine Chronic Nervous System Diseases Professional Committee was successfully held. The theme of this academic forum is "Post-stroke depression and insomnia" seminar. Professor Liu Deshan, Professor Liu Zhenguo, Professor Wang Changde, Professor An Hongmei, Professor Nie Zhiyu and other members of the Chinese Geriatrics Society of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine Branch and Shanghai Association of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine Chronic nervous system Diseases Professional Committee attended the meeting. According to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the academic forum will use an online platform for academic exchanges.


In his speech, Professor Liu Deshan, president of the Chinese Geriatric Society Association of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, pointed out that the Association of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine will join hands with the Fraternal Society to promote the prevention and treatment of geriatric diseases, actively promote multidisciplinary academic exchanges in diagnosis and treatment, strive to do a good job in elderly health services, and make more practical and contribution to improving the health level of China's elderly population.

 

Professor Liu Zhenguo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Geriatrics Society of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Branch and chairman of the Chronic Nervous system Diseases Professional Committee of Shanghai Society of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, said that the two professional committees have the advantages of complementing each other and linking up and down, and cooperating in academic exchanges can achieve resource sharing and win-win cooperation, which is very beneficial to promoting the prevention and treatment of nervous system diseases and the development of the discipline. There are broad prospects for cooperation.

This meeting invited Professor Nie Zhiyu from Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University and Professor An Hongmei from Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine to share special topics, and the two professors gave wonderful explanations from the perspectives of Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine respectively. Professor Nie Zhiyu conducted an in-depth discussion on the "identification and treatment of post-stroke depression". Depression accompanied by anxiety after stroke is very common, about 1/3 or more patients will have depression accompanied by anxiety or different degrees of mild or severe depression, so attention should be paid to it in clinical diagnosis and treatment. Meanwhile, Professor Nie introduced the diagnosis and treatment of post-stroke depression in detail. It is pointed out that the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine has a very good clinical effect on post-stroke depression.

 

Insomnia is also a clinical symptom often accompanied by stroke patients. Traditional Chinese medicine has its unique effect on the understanding and treatment of insomnia. For some patients with intractable insomnia, the intervention effect of traditional Chinese medicine is very good. In this meeting, Professor An Hongmei explained in detail the understanding of insomnia in Chinese medicine from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine. Professor An began with the classics of Huangdi's Inner Classic, Synopsis of Golden Chamber and Treatize on Cold Disease, and thoroughly expounded the research on insomnia in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. From the principles and prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine, the various types of insomnia and representative prescriptions were studied. At the same time, Professor An also introduced the latest progress in the differentiation and treatment of insomnia in traditional Chinese medicine according to the Guidelines for Insomnia and Diagnosis and Treatment in China.
