The Founding Conference of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics Was Held Successfully
Approved by The State Council and registered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Chinese Geriatric Society was officially established in Beijing on April 19, 2015. Director Zhan Chengfu of the Civil Organization Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Minister Li Qingjie of the People's Liberation Army General Health Department, President Ren Guoquan of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital and other leaders attended the meeting, more than 30 fraternist associations and institutional leaders attended and sent congratulatory letters to support, 28 academicians and well-known experts wrote messages congratulating the establishment of the Chinese Geriatric Society.
The establishment of the society is an important decision made by the Chinese government in response to the increasingly severe aging of the population, and also marks the construction of geriatric medicine in China, academic research and health services have entered a new period of development, since then, China has added an important new force in the prevention and treatment of diseases of the elderly and in response to the aging of the population.
According to the spirit of the documents issued by the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and The State Council, such as "Several Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Elderly Care Service Industry" and "Several Opinions on Promoting the Development of the Health Service Industry", the Chinese Geriatric Society has formulated its own service purpose: To organize and unite geriatric medicine and its related medical and health institutions and medical and health workers throughout the country, earnestly implement the guidelines, policies, laws and regulations on aging and health work in China, and apply the theories and high and new technologies of modern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine to focus on the health needs of the elderly population, To study and explore the law of health and medical development of the aged and the countermeasures of aging, sub-health and disease prevention; Gather medical and health workers and social forces, promote the construction of the geriatrics discipline system and scientific and technological progress, consolidate health promotion and medical and health services, and make positive contributions to the realization of healthy aging and the building of a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way.
At the founding meeting of the society, more than 430 representatives of the first member representative Congress of the Chinese Geriatrics Society from all over the country elected the first council composed of 271 directors; To elect the Executive director, secretary general, vice president and president; Professor Fan Li, former vice president of PLA General Hospital and a famous geriatric expert in China, was elected as the president, and Professor Zhang Liping, former minister of Health of PLA General Bureau, was elected as the honorary president. The meeting passed a series of normative documents such as the Constitution of the Chinese Geriatric Society and the Regulations on the Management of Members of the Chinese Geriatric Society. China has studied and formulated the 2015-2020 Construction and Development Plan for the Chinese Geriatrics Society, clarifying the guiding ideology, overall goals, main tasks and basic measures for the work of the society. Based on the development plan, President Fan Li made a report on the work of the first Council of the association to the members' representatives and directors.
The first National Member Congress proposed that April 19 be designated as "Geriatric Medicine Day" every year. Through the "Geriatric Medicine Day", geriatric medicine workers and volunteers across the country are called upon and organized to go to society, communities and rural areas to provide various forms of compulsory health consultation, health education and science popularization activities for the elderly. In order to arouse the government and the whole society to attach great importance to geriatrics, concern and strong support.
During the period, the annual brand meeting "China Gerontology and Scientific and Technological Innovation Conference", which the society will strive to build in the future, was also held, and several well-known academician experts in China were invited to make wonderful reports on the development of gerontology from the aspects of policy, academia and industry.
In order to promote the society culture of ";respecting medicine, healthy life";, improve the social impact of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, and strengthen the members of the society's emotional cultivation of geriatrics and attention to the social life of the elderly, the conference held the "Beautiful Sunset, Beauty in the moment"; photography contest. The competition has a total of about 200 photos submitted, the vast majority of the works with a unique perspective to interpret the happiness of today's elderly people "old support, old learning, old work, old people have fun"; concept, with a delicate and accurate lens to depict the beautiful life of the elderly.
The conference also carried out the "Touching your true feelings" essay campaign, through the delicate and tender strokes, to convey the positive energy in the field of geriatrics, express the core values of "patients' interests as the first principle";, and show the highly responsible professional spirit of geriatrics workers, the humanistic feelings of caring for the health of the elderly, and the harmonious relationship between doctors and patients. The meeting received a total of more than 100 essays, which will be published after the meeting, writing a chapter of The Times of "Great medical sincerity";. More than 800 delegates attended the conference, which completed all the agendas and achieved a complete success.
