The Chinese Geriatric Society successfully held its first geriatric Medical Care and Health Management Salon at the PLA General Hospital on July 1, 2017.
Qin Xiaoling, Vice president and Secretary General of the Army of the Chinese Geriatric Society, attended the meeting, and more than 40 professionals from the medical and nursing industry, including directors and head nurses of a number of first-class hospitals such as the PLA General Hospital, Union Hospital, Peking University Hospital, and Army General Hospital, managers of elderly care institutions, operating officers and heads of Internet medical service platforms, attended the salon on the same day.
The vice president of the Army first spoke on behalf of the Chinese Geriatric Society, saying that the society will play a leading position in the field of geriatric medicine, build a good platform, give full support, let the salon play a greater role, promote the development of production, education and research, and better serve the elderly population.
The executive director of the Chinese Geriatric Society, the director of the International Exchange Center, the director of the Hypertension Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, the deputy chief physician of the health care Department of the PLA General Hospital, the doctor of geriatric medicine, Hu Yixin, the director of the first sharing exchange, her topic is how to live and how to live better. She graphically illustrates this relationship with a golden triangle: live (medical problems), live better (physical activity + social interaction), and explains how the Golden triangle can be used to build a basic health risk monitoring system. Director Hu led the discussion on how to implement professional medical care for a 77-year-old man who was hospitalized with multiple diseases and returned home after discharge. This leads to how to conduct comprehensive assessment of old age, especially after discharge, how to view comprehensive assessment from a medical perspective, and how to conduct whole-person medical care. These methods and experiences are widely applicable to the health management of the elderly in families, various elderly care institutions and Internet medical platforms.
Director of the Medical Care Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, head nurse of the First Department of the Health Management Research Institute of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital, head nurse, national second-level psychological consultant, health manager, Sun Jing explained the nasal feeding care with a large number of legends and rich years of practical experience in professional and humorous language. The content is detailed and practical, and it is of great help to the family members of the old man who came to the salon and the elderly caregivers at the scene.
The former Deputy chief physician and deputy director of the Emergency Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of the PLA General Hospital, and the current head of the emergency department of Peking University International Hospital, Dr. Qin Yuhong, MD, shared some of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the elderly in first aid, and Ms. Gong Mei, head nurse, shared the assessment and nursing experience of the elderly with cognitive impairment. Mr. Guo Bo shared his nursing experience from the perspective of family support, which benefited everyone.
Finally, Deputy Secretary-General Qin Xiaoling made a concluding speech, affirming that the first Salon has achieved a complete success under the joint efforts of colleagues and participants of the society. The society will continue to support the subsequent holding of the salon and promote the development of medical care for the elderly.
The Medical Care and Health Management Salon of the Chinese Geriatric Society will also carry out a series of informative salon activities. The second salon will be held on July 22 at the PLA General Hospital from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. The theme is Prehospital safety prediction and transport. Dr. Qin Yuhong, Director of Peking University International Hospital, will explain the assessment and management of common symptoms of elderly people outside the hospital. Head Nurse Kuhong An, PLA General Hospital, will explain the safe movement and transfer of care.
