The Chinese Society of Geriatrics issued the group standard of Care Service Standards for the Elderly with Cognitive Impairment
In the leadup to World Alzheimer's Disease Day on September 21, the Chinese Society of Geriatrics officially released the group standard "Standard of Care Services for Cognitively impaired Elderly People" (T/CGSS019-2021). This is the first group standard of care service for the elderly with cognitive impairment applicable to both medical institutions and elderly care institutions in China.
The Standard of Care Service for the Elderly with Cognitive Impairment (T/CGSS019-2021) is proposed by SIC Health Industry Investment Co., LTD., and managed by the Standardization Working Committee of the Chinese Geriatric Society. The drafting unit is: Sdic Health Industry Investment Co., LTD., National Clinical Medical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (PLA General Hospital), Cognitive Disorders Branch of Chinese Geriatric Society, Beijing Geriatric Hospital, Medical Care Branch of Chinese Geriatric Society, Capital Medical University Xuanwu Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Jiangsu Geriatric Hospital, Hebei Geriatric Hospital, Liaoning Geriatric Hospital, Beijing Longfu Hospital.
At the group standard review meeting of "Norms for Care Services for Cognitively impaired Elderly" organized by the Chinese Geriatric Society on August 29, 2021, the review experts evaluated:
The standard comprehensively summarizes practical experience, draws on relevant domestic and foreign guidelines, takes into account both symptom control and life care, and puts forward specific requirements from caregiver training, comprehensive functional assessment, formulation of care plans and non-drug intervention methods, to environmental facilities, with strong operability, and has important guiding significance for the standardization of services for cognitively impaired elderly people.
Due to its professionalism and particularity, the care of the elderly with cognitive impairment, especially the elderly with moderate and severe cognitive impairment, has always been a pain point and blocking point of social livelihood, and also a difficult and key point in the field of old-age care. For a long time, there has been no unified standard of care for the elderly with cognitive impairment, which greatly restricts the construction of professional care teams and the improvement of care quality.
After the release and implementation of the "Standard of Care Services for the Elderly with cognitive Impairment", the Chinese Geriatric Society will publicize and organize training within the scope of the society to train nursing talents; Sdic Health Industry Investment Co., Ltd. will be implemented and implemented within the company; Beijing Geriatric Hospital and other participating hospitals will also join the national geriatric hospital and more medical institutions to gradually promote and apply.
The formulation and promotion of this standard will provide operable professional service standards for geriatric medicine departments, nursing homes, dementia care centers, and nursing homes for the elderly with cognitive disabilities, improve the level of care for the elderly with cognitive disabilities, improve and maintain the cognitive function of the elderly with cognitive disabilities, improve their quality of life, reduce the occurrence of various complications, and reduce the burden on families and society.
