In order to promote the progress and development of geriatric dermatology in China, approved by the Chinese Geriatric Society, the Founding Conference of the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society was held in the Science Hall of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University on the morning of July 10, 2021.

The inaugural meeting was sponsored by the Chinese Geriatric Society and co-organized by the Department of Dermatology and venereology of Capital Medical University. Cheng Zhi, Vice President of the Chinese Geriatric Society, Professor Hua Qi, President of the Hypertension Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, Zhao Jihe, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Geriatric Society, Bai Xuesong, deputy director of the Member Service Department, and proposed members and leading scholars from all over the country attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the conference, Cheng Zhi, vice president of the Chinese Geriatric Society, read the approval of the preparation for the establishment of the Dermatology branch, and Professor Zhu Wei, chairman of the preparatory committee of the Dermatology Branch and dermatology department of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, reported the preparatory work.

The first committee election meeting of the Dermatology Branch was held online and offline. Deputy Secretary-General Zhao Jiancheng introduced the structure, responsibilities and objectives of the Chinese Geriatric Society to the participants and announced the election results: Professor Zhu Wei was elected as the first Chairman of the Dermatology Branch, Professor Lian Shi was elected as the honorary President, and Professors Geng Songmei, Li Shanshan, Lu Hongguang, Tao Juan, Yang Sen, Zhang Xibao and Zhao Hua were elected as vice presidents. Prof. Zhao Guoguang, President of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, Prof. Zhang Xuejun, Director of Institute of Dermatology, Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and Prof. Zhang Jianzhong, Director of Dermatology, Peking University People's Hospital, expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the first committee of Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society.

 The establishment of the branch will certainly make positive promotion and contribution to geriatric dermatology in teaching, science popularization, scientific research and other fields.
