From April 10 to 11, 2021, the President's Meeting of the Chinese Geriatric Society and the Expert Committee of the Chinese Geriatric Society will be held in Beijing. Professor Fan Li, President of the Chinese Geriatric Society, Deputy Secretary General of the Twelfth National Committee of the CPPCC, Deputy Director of the Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Committee, Director of the Expert Steering Committee of the "Belt and Road" Strategic Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Professor Zhang Qiujian, honorary chairman of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Geriatric Society, A total of 94 people, including the vice president of the association, the head of the branch and the representatives of the branch, attended the meeting.
On the afternoon of April 10, the expert seminar of the President's meeting of the Chinese Geriatric Society was held, and Vice President Cheng Zhi presided over the meeting. Focusing on the theme of the construction and development of the Chinese Geriatric Society, the leaders and experts at the meeting spoke freely from the aspects of personnel training, discipline construction, institutional empowerment, branch absorption, development of traditional medicine, smart health technology, promotion of age-friendly products, and brand building in combination with the relevant contents of the national ";14th Five-Year Plan"; on health of the elderly and the five-year plan of the society. For the construction and development of the society positive suggestions, put forward a lot of good suggestions.
On the morning of April 11, the president's meeting of the Chinese Geriatric Society was held. Vice President and Secretary-General Xu Xiaodong presided over the meeting. She pointed out that the meeting is very important, as it is held in the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan of the country, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the timing of China's staged victory in the fight against the epidemic. It will play a positive role in promoting the work quality of the society and further adapting to social development.
In his speech, President Fan Li stressed four points: First, strengthen the political construction of the association, strengthen the self-construction of the association, and strive for a first-class association. Second, we should take academic as the basis, strengthen the construction of geriatric medicine characteristic brand, and consolidate the academic foundation. Third, we should strengthen the construction of information platform and expand the influence and authority of the society. Fourth, we should strengthen the construction of operation mechanism and stimulate the innovation vitality of branches.
Finally, President Fan Li put forward three requirements. First, the leaders of each branch should be familiar with the rules and regulations of the association, undertake the work step by step according to the regulations and procedures, and be able to withstand the audit. They should follow the concept of establishing the association academically, serving and promoting the association, educating and strengthening the association, innovating and running the association according to law, and run the association well. The second is to form a joint force, the branch should unite with the general association, develop together, have the overall situation awareness, form a united front, and promote positive energy. The third is to do a good job in personnel training, give full play to the advantages of each branch, and do a great job in the training of geriatric doctors and geriatric health nurses with modern geriatric medicine concepts that the country needs and the elderly urgently need. Through our joint efforts, we have explored a development path with the characteristics of the Chinese Geriatrics Society.
Four deputy secretaries, Li Chaoyang, Deng Dongfei, Ding Zhiping and Zhao Jianxin, respectively, made a briefing and explanation on the organizational structure adjustment of the society, the change of the legal person certificate of the society, project management services, and the work evaluation indicators of branches in 2021. Professor Hu Wen, Vice President of the Society and President of the Nutrition and Food Safety Branch, Shan Zhigang, Director of the Emergency Medicine Branch, and Professor Yang Tingshu, President of the Promotion Committee of the Integration of Medical Care and Nutrition, exchanged experiences on how to play the role of the branch.
The meeting opened the Chinese Geriatric Society expert committee work kickoff meeting, Vice President Cao Feng presided over the meeting, Vice President Hou Huiru informed the composition of the expert committee and work responsibilities, Professor He Yao, chairman of the expert committee introduced the work plan of the expert committee.

Professor Zhang Qiujian pointed out that the COVID-19 epidemic has brought new challenges to human society, to China and to ourselves. For example, the change of life style, the change of survival mode, this is a change of way and concept. Awareness of health, respect for the value of life, and expectations of medical staff.
To leverage the economy, all we need to do is to let the sun rise on the aging industry.
Professor Zhang Qiujian pointed out that in the national "14th Five-Year Plan", the aging industry, including people's health and medical industry, has been raised as a national strategy. After the new coronavirus epidemic, what is urgently needed by the country and what is just needed by the society? In the people's health cause, in the geriatric medicine and aging industry, what is urgently needed and just needed is scientific and technological support. Especially in medical technology, medical facilities, drugs and other core key technologies, there are many needs for us to break through.
Professor Zhang Qiujian suggested several major tasks for the society to do in the future. First, the construction of high-end academic platform of Chinese Geriatrics Society; Second, the establishment of geriatric experts think tank; The third is to become a demonstration center for the training of elderly medical personnel; The fourth is to become a training center for the continuing education of geriatrics and medical teachers; Fifth, promote the construction and improvement of China's geriatric medicine and nursing related discipline system, and enhance the academic status of geriatric medicine.
