Inaugural Meeting of Nephrology Branch of Chinese Geriatric Society and 2022 Academic Forum
On May 22, 2022, the founding meeting of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society and the 2022 Academic Forum were held online in Beijing. Xu Xiaodong, Vice president and Secretary-General of the Chinese Geriatric Society, Qin Xiaoling, honorary director of the Standardization Working Committee, and Zhao Inheritance, deputy Secretary-General, attended the meeting.
Professor Fan Li, President of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, delivered a speech online and expressed warm congratulations on the successful holding of the founding conference of the Nephrology Branch and the Academic Forum 2022. After the establishment of the Nephrology Branch, it can unite the workers in the field of nephrology, geriatrics and health in the country, actively explore ideas, work together, innovate and forge forward, connect with national policies, and contribute everyone's wisdom and wisdom to explore the establishment of elderly kidney disease prevention and care, disease diagnosis and treatment, skill training, health education, medical maintenance and other service systems.
Professor Zhang Shuyang, President of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, delivered a speech on behalf of the sponsor unit of the chapter. President Zhang stressed that China has entered the aging, maintaining the health of the elderly and promoting healthy aging is an important task to build a healthy China, but also an important layout of the national 14th Five-Year Plan, is the common challenge and opportunity faced by the whole society and all medical workers. The establishment of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society will certainly contribute to the integration and development of geriatrics and nephrology in China. The speech expressed congratulations on the establishment of the branch, and hoped that the branch would take on the important task of promoting, preventing, diagnosing, controlling, treating and developing the elderly kidney disease.
In his speech, Professor Cheng Qingshi of the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital briefly reviewed the history of the development of geriatric nephrology in China, hoping that after the establishment of the branch can actively build an academic exchange platform for geriatric nephrology, promote the progress of the diagnosis and treatment of geriatric nephrology in China, and help elderly patients extend their life span and improve their quality of life.

Xu Xiaodong, Vice president and secretary-general of the Chinese Geriatric Society, read the approval of the Chinese Geriatric Society on the preparation for the establishment of the branch of Nephrology. Professor Qin Yan of Peking Union Medical College Hospital made a comprehensive report on the preparatory work of the branch. Deputy Secretary-General Zhao Jianguo read out a review report on the election process and the qualifications of members. The meeting elected the first committee of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society.
Professor Chen Limeng of Peking Union Medical College Hospital was elected as the first Chairman of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society. And Professor Zhao Weihong of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital was elected as vice president. Professor Qin Yan of Peking Union Medical College Hospital is the director General, and Professor Ao Jianguo of the Second Medical Center of PLA General Hospital is the deputy director general.
On behalf of all the members, President Chen Limeng thanked the association for its support and the trust of seniors in nephrology. In the future, under the leadership of the General Assembly, the branch will play a leading role in party building and carry out various work in accordance with the law. With the joint efforts of the committee members, actively build an academic exchange platform for elderly kidney disease, build and train a team of elderly kidney disease talents, further promote the deep integration of "production, study and research", improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment level and medical service effect of elderly kidney disease in China, and reduce the burden on society, families and individuals. We will work together to achieve the great goals of the "Healthy China 2030" Plan Outline.
After the founding meeting, the Academic Forum of Nephrology Branch 2022 was held online, and President Chen Limeng made a speech entitled "Geriatric Nephrology: After that, Cheng Qingshi, Qin Xiaoling, Zhao Weihong, Ning Xiaohong and other experts gave academic lectures on the issues that need attention in elderly kidney disease, the changes of renal function in aging and its influencing factors, how to help elderly patients with kidney disease by palliative care and the work of group standards. More than 100 members from 31 provinces, cities, autonomous regions and municipalities participated in the online discussion and actively offered suggestions for the development of the branch. The conference was broadcast live to the national peers, and 16,000 elderly nephrology peers witnessed the establishment of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society online, and shared the collision of academic forum ideas and clinical diagnosis and treatment experience.
